Basanta Utsab

Basanta Utsav or Holi also known as the festival of love, is one of the most popular and significant festivals in India. Among all seasons, spring season, otherwise known as “Basanta” is the end of winter and the beginning of summer. It is also about festivals celebrated in its own way, mingling with the love for nature. There are colours flying in the air and one can hear innumerable renditions of the popular son Basonto eshe geche in the campus.

The Cultural Sub-Committee celebrated Basanta Utsav with students, teachers and children of adjacent areas at Siliguri Mahila Mahavidyalaya campus. Every year, on the Bengali month of Falgun, Basanta utasb is celebrated at Siliguri Mahila Mahavidyalaya to welcome the spring season. Students and teachers gather together to perform musical recital and dance their heart out on famous Bengali songs that signifies the arrival of spring.
