Siliguri Mahila Mahavidyalaya, affiliated to the University of North Bengal, is the only Girl’s College in Siliguri Sub Division was established in 1981 by some socially dedicated person of the society. Since then the college has been serving by educating its women population of belonging to lower middle class and weaker section of the society to make its students self-sufficient, socially conscious and academically sound citizens.
Discipline is the key to success in every field. We have a unit of NCC which takes active role in various programmes of Govt. of India. We have also started training on self-defense by a group of trained NCC students (present and passed out) for rest of our students.
For direct contact with the society, to aware backward people about education, about various diseases and about nutrition, our college plays an important role through students by seminars, camps including all students. We have TWO UNITS of NSS in which a good number of students take active part at various awareness programmes organized by the units.
Without having sense of culture one cannot make the environment full of pleasure, cannot spread fragrances to life. The college is a platform to express their talents and inner feelings through cultural programmes. Apart from annual cultural programme we organize Rabindra Jayanti, Barsha Mangal, Basant Utsav, Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day, Republic Day, Saraswati Puja, Briksha Ropan and few others where a good number of students particiapats. Students, in large number also participate in Annual Sports Meet and Inter-College Sports Meet. Students are encouraged to participate in seminars, workshops, exhibitions and educational tours.
Highly motivated and qualified faculty members constantly seek to enhance the teaching-learning process. Co-curricular activities complement the curriculum and help the students develop their inner talents and creativity. Support staffs are always there to help the students at any problem.
