One day seminar on ‘CULTURAL AWAKENING AND BENGAL RENAISSANCE WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO NORTH BENGAL’ was organized by the department of history of siliguri mahila mahabidyalaya on 17TH NOVEMBER, 2022 at room no 4. Central theme of the seminar is ‘CULTURAL AWAKENING AND BENGAL RENAISSANCE WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO NORTH BENGAL. It is a significant topic of history of north Bengal.

Therefore the main objective is to provide a detail and deeper understanding on history of ancient Greece to our students, a valuable source of learning for students who want to gain a deeper understanding of their field. Primary purpose of this seminar is to improve mutual educational cooperation between colleges and give the students a prospect to interact with teachers outside of their own college through Memorandum of Understanding and to promote academic activities between the two institutions.

The inaugural session of the seminar started at 11.00 a.m with the welcome address by Dr. Subrata Debnath , Principal, Siliguri Mahila Mahabidyalaya. In his inaugural speech he has mentioned some important features of Bengal renaissance .The dignitaries on the Dias were Dr. SUPAM BISWAS, Assistant Professor, Department of History, BANESHWAR SARATHIBALA MAHAVIDYALAYA, Dr. Subrata Debnath , Principal, Siliguri Mahila Mahabidyalaya,Prodipta Bose, ASSOCIATE Professor, Department of History, Siliguri Mahila Mahabidyalaya,Sucheta Mitra ,SACT , Department of History, Siliguri Mahila Mahabidyalaya, Moushikha Chatterjee , SACT , Department of History, Siliguri Mahila Mahabidyalaya .

There was tea break for 15 minutes followed by the interactive session.
All the dignitaries were felicitated by the students of our college.
Teaching and non teaching staff from other departments are present.

Keynote address was delivered by Dr. SUPAM BISWAS, Assistant Professor, Department of History, BANESHWAR SARATHIBALA College.

It was a very enlightening seminar in which the following issues are discussed.

The theme of the seminar ‘CULTURAL AWAKENING AND BENGAL RENAISSANCE WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO NORTH BENGAL’ aims to enable students to develop their knowledge and understanding of the topic by engaging with key issues. Darjeeling was the educational hub of western education during colonial period. Christian missionaries played a very important role in the Darjeeling hills in spreading education among the common people.
To set up a link between theory and practice.
To encourage and motivate students by involvement in real world experiences, achievement stories or innovative ideas associated to the subject matter.
Encourage students to imagine critically and analytically about the theme, challenging conventional perception and promotion of intellectual curiosity.
Provide an opening for students to relate with professionals or experts in the field, creating networking and probable mentorship opportunities.
Recommend insights into career paths, and skill sets essential for success in the field, helping learners to make well-versed decisions about their profession. This student centered seminar help students to develop achievable goals for historical research.
The experience and challenge in their domain help student to overcome the doubts of the theme
 Students will leave the speech with a deeper perceptive of the topic discussed, including major concepts,theories, and realistic applications.
The lecture stimulates student commitment through active involvement, discussion, and inquiring, that creates a vibrant learning environment. Students will also be capable to be appropriate the knowledge gained from the talk to educational projects, research endeavours, or real-world situation applicable to their field of study.
