The death anniversary of Biswakabi Rabindranath Tagore, who reshaped Bengali literature and music as well as the arts of the Indian subcontinent with contextual modernism, is observed in this day. Tagore died at the age of 80 on 7th August 1941, according to the Greorian calendar. But, his death anniversary is observed in Bengal on 22 Srabon of the Bengal calendar.

The death anniversary of Rabindra Nath Tagore was observed with due solemnity at our College. The portrait of Tagore was garlanded by the Principal and all the teachers of the Siliguri Mahila Mahavidyalya. On this occasion there were many programmes organized by the Cultural sub-Committee. The commemorative event was observed with the tree plantation programme in the college premises. The principal, teaching, no-teaching staff and students of the college planted tree sapling on the college campus to mark the occasion. The students of the college flagged off the programmes with the rendition of welcome song. The programme continued with presentation of Rabindra Sangeet to the accompaniment of dances by the College students.

The students took the oath to continue this tradition of sapling plants in the future to illustrate the respect to our kabi guru.
