Vision & Mission

Siliguri Mahila Mahavidyalaya, affiliated to the University of North Bengal, is the only Girls’ College in Siliguri Sub-division. It was established in 1981 to promote the education of the then lower middle class and weaker sections of the surrounding locality. Since then, the College has been serving the society by educating its women population. The core value of the college resonates in its belief that ‘Vidya Dadati Vinayam’ (Knowledge endows Humility and Humanity). Hence the vision of the college is premised on three axioms:
The mission of the college is Education for All irrespective of caste, creed, religion, and economic status’. It reflects the distinctive characteristics of the institution, which caters to the students with varied educational, social, cultural and economic backgrounds. To pursue the mission, the college strives to:
To fulfil this vision the college has structured three-tired administrative system that actively decentralizes power and distributes challenges to all the stakeholders.

In order to provide such holistic and humanitarian education the college has structured three-tiered system of planning – short-term, mid-term and long-term. Theses plans, in turn, are related to each other as short-term plans help to fulfil the goals of the mid-term plans, which then again, fulfil the goals of the long-term plans.

Following this stratagem the college, overcoming the stumbling block of the pandemic, in the last five years (since 2018) has achieved several of its goals.

To fulfil its vision and mission, the college not only concentrates on following the roadmap; but also encourages on developing a friendly work environment that supports the three-tiered structure and nourishes personal relationship of both the students and teachers.
